English Language Proficiency Test

All pilots, student pilots, and air traffic controllers involved in international operations are required to demonstrate a specified level of English language proficiency which supports clear and effective communication essential for aviation safety worldwide.

The test comprises:

• Casual conversation with the language proficiency examiner

• Description of an aviation-related picture (typically involving an emergency or threats)

• Reading and translating aviation-related content

• Listening to recordings and repeating aviation phraseology

The test takes approximately 30 minutes.
